Unstable Media is a rebranding project for V2_, an interdisciplinary center for art and technology in Rotterdam. Unstable Media presents, produces, archives and publishes research at the interface of art, technology and society. The overall identity is inspired by their point of view—how art and design play an essential role in the social embedding of the technological developments.Their name, V2_, came after the address of the center’s first location. The rebranding focuses on meaning of unstable media, therefore it is renamed to Unstable Media. Throughout the logo animation, I wanted to point out on the word “unstable”. The subsidiary departments are displayed at the end of the animation. The word mark intentionally breaks up to emphasize the idea of “instability,” as they indicated in their manifesto—It is not seen as survival of the fittest, but as an order which is composed of countless fragmentary orders, which differ among themselves. Activities include organizing presentations, exhibitions, workshops, research and development of artworks in its own lab.
